Personal History
My name is Dillon Flick, I am 17 yrs old, and a senior in high school. I have been racing AMA events for only 3 years. Quads was my first love of racing at age 9 but racing dirt bikes is my true passion. I started racing quads at our local county fairs which was only 3 races a year. After two years of that and finally dumping my quad upside down in a creek, I moved over to racing a KX110. My dad and I modified it with a 65 suspension and it was the coolest looking bike ever. Raced a few more years at the fairs and moved up to a 140 playbike. At age 14, we bought a KX250f and started racing in the MAMA (Mid Atlantic Motocross Assocation) series. MAMA was the best place for me to race because they had a D class for beginners. That’s where I got my feet wet and learned what racing in an AMA sanctioned event really meant. MAMA is some of the nicest and friendliest group of people. They truly showed us the ropes. In 2011, I continued racing in MAMA, now in the 250C class, and added the MDRA (Mason Dixen Riding Assocation) and D13 MAWS (Mid Atlantic Winter Series) to my schedule. That was about 25 races in total I attended that year. I did not finish well in the points with MAMA because of breaking my arm on Henry Hill at Budds Creek but I did race enough to place 6th in Schoolboy 4 Stroke in MDRA. The 2012 did not go so well. I finished 10th in Open C with barely making enough races to qualify. I had other breaks that season including my front tooth. LOL In 2013, I graduated high school and technical school with a certificate in Engineering Technology. But, I started the first race of the season with a broken collar bone. The good news is I ended the season strong. I had my first podium finish at Budds Creek where I finished 3rd in 250C. I ended 2013 MAMA Series with 4th in Collegeboy, 5th in 250C, and 5th in Open C.
I finally earned the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts in my Troop 124 in June 2013. My project was building a deck/landing platform for a small church located near our troops meeting place. I have been in scouts since I was 8 years old starting out as a Tiger Cub. My dad has been with me every step of the way even now in boy scouts as an assistant leader. Since being with Troop 124 I have logged in over 100 nights of camping and complete 42 merit badges. This is a huge accomplishment.
Riding Goals
My riging goals are very simple. I want to complete each race safely and place in the top 5 of every race. My starts have been getting so much better but I need to be more consistant. Most of my gates are 30+ so I need to be consistantly hitting that start turn in the top 10 or better. I need to put to the dirt all the techniques I learned at Milsap's Training Facilty. With my racing finishes coming to fruition, my goal for 2014 is to compete at Loretta Lynn's National Amature championship. I CAN DO THIS!
Competitive Highlights
I had my first podium finish placing 3rd at Budds Creek in the 250C class. I finished the 2013 season with a 4th in Collegeboy, 5th in 250C, and 5th in Open C. My starts have totally improved and I had 6 holeshots in gates of 20+.
