Personal History
Hello, my name is Devin Halaburda. I am a 15 year old boy who is attending school at Windber Area high school maintaining 90 percent grade averages in honors classes. I am involved with my school through sports. The sports I participate in are football and track and field. Prior to motocross I had a background in USA BMX. If you don’t know, USA BMX is the bmx racing association in the U.S. When I wrapped up bmx to race motocross I was usually winning races in the 13-14 intermediate class. The current motocross classes I race are schoolboy 1 and C class. My 2019 season has been an amazing season but obviously could’ve been better. My 2018 season I started off on a 17 year old bike as my family could not finically afford anything better. I deep down wanted to race more often but with something so unreliable I knew I’d have to get on my feet and do something. During the summer of 2018 I found a good job and worked hard and began saving. My hard work soon paid off as I purchased a locked up 2014 Crf250r. I’m very mechanically inclined because my Dad is a full time mechanic and I’ve always had a major interest. I immediately tore the bike apart and started a mission. I soon rebuilt a modern 4 stroke with little help from my dad. I was ecstatic that not only I rebuilt something so complicated but that I had a bike that was reliable to attend more races. I then started showing up more often to the races. My first few big bike races were awful. I struggled to find comfort on the heavy 250f. My parents and I agreed that I needed some help if I wanted to become a better, more serious rider. So we decided to attend a school at Gary Semics. Gary’s school taught me many things that really helped. I instantly put my new knowledge to work. By the end of the season a good bit of progress was made but not as much as I would’ve liked. Also at the end of the season I rode a yz125 and felt beyond comfortable. I knew I needed a 125. Therefore , for the 2019 season I purchased a 2013 yz125 and had great success. The first few races went alright but overall made me want to get better. I started training, pushing moto after moto and soon saw progress. I ended up finishing 20th at a local, non-AMA race before my training then after my training I went 9-8 for 8th overall in schoolboy 1 on amateur day at High Point. I was so proud this day I finally had a race were I wasn’t a slug and frustrated. I continued to train and brought my results up at the next few local races to the top 5. I know that 2020 will hold more for me. I will continue to push and get better. I plan to train harder than every and attend even more races with the help of sponsors this year. I plan to spend even more time on my bike in 2020. I will use all of your products with pride. I will display all of your products on and off the race track as much as I can.
Riding Goals
Within the future I plan to race all of the PAMX series in 2020. I’d like to work hard and put lots of time on the bike to get up to the top 3. In 2022 I plan to attempt to qualify for the Loretta Lynn Championship.
Competitive Highlights
During this season I raced 250c and schoolboy at Breezewood Proving Grounds and usually finished within the top 5. My AMA highlights include finishing 8th in schoolboy 1 at the high point amateur day.
