Personal History

My name is Dane Colunga, im 25 and I have loved motocross ever since I could remember. At age 12 I got my very first dirtbike, a 1983 yz125 which I had to barter for with a gentleman on Craigslist. In exchange for some electrical work he gave me the bike. Before my dad let me ride the bike, I had ro learn how to completely disassemble the bike and put it back together. That was my introduction to my love for the sport. I rode at places like Carnegie, clay Pitts, Hollister, stonyford, and prairie city frequently to develop my skills. I became very good on trails and hill climbs and becamee fearless on a bike. After suffering my first big injury, I decided I would use my off time to learn more about the mechanical side of dirtbikes and what goes in to it. For years I have been building and tinkering with a countless number of dirtbikes, developing my skills as a mechanic which I am still doing to this day. I am actually working under Jeff Marsh who is not only a master Mechanic but an incredible motocross racer who dominates both B and A class riders and is known all over the bay area. Anyways. Last year (2019) I decided I wanted to get into motocross racing and follow in the footsteps of my step dad Joe Madison who is also a racer in the 45 expert class who usually finishes on the podium at any race he enters. He has been helping me develop this year so next season I can start racing and be competitive. I have been riding twice a week for some time now on my 2020 yz250f and developing quickly on the track. Outside of the track I am continually developing my skills as a dirtbike mechanic as well. I am excited to see where this moto journey will take me, but I am a firm believer that hard work shows results. So I am excited to start racing and see where all my hard work gets me. I am hoping to get sponsorship with a company that will be beneficial for both my riding as well as mechanical developement. (Currently Sponsored with Yoshimura, ASV Inventions, Flo Motorsports, Decal Works, ARMA Sport, Cycra, Fly Optics, OGIO, ONEAL, and Twin Air).

Riding Goals

I am hoping that by the start of next season I am at a competitive enough level to get some podium finishes and to be a contender in my class. I will continue riding as much as I can to develope myself as a rider.
