Rider Updates

Aug 11 2023

I made it as a rider on a flier for an upcoming race! The Sofa Brand show down, an upcoming race for NCMA.
Sofa Brand is a new line of riding gear that I sport and love! Looks like the owners might be paying attention to the improvement I have made this year. The take the 1st place finishers and draw for a free set of gear both adult and youth. Maybe I will win this year!!!!

I also learned why my parents are always on me about tucking in my jersey!

Yucca Hills MX Camp

It was a great weekend at Yucca Hills being taught by Kevin Barnard.
I learned so many new techniques over the weekend!

My least favorite part of camp was all the standing laps we had to do. I learned my lesson fast when I got tired and thought coach wasn’t looking and sat down at the bottom of the kidnapper for a second (how did he see me? Oh ya it was my mom that told on me!) but it was not worth the 15 pushups I had to do especially since my arms already hurt!

I loved the whoops section and perfecting my blocking passes! I lost my front brake pad during block pass practice and coach said I had to improvise because you can’t leave a race to fix your bike. It was hard making a sharp cut turn having only a rear brake but I figured it out! Now to mow some yards to help pay for the parts that need replaced.

I can’t wait to try it out on my next race. I have even been trying to get my parents to take my brother and I to a race in a different circuit this coming weekend so I don’t have to wait till P-Town in August.

Did I mention it was 100° all weekend! thank goodness my parents brought the boat so the families at camp were able to tube and get wet!

Oh ya and I left camp with Tonsillitis so pray it gets better bc mom said we aren’t racing this weekend unless it’s gone. Salt water and honey soaked garlic is gross but we all have to make sacrifices.

Learned a hard lesson in practice of why it’s important to wear your chest protector! I lost a spoke that popped my tube so when I landed a double I decided to dismount my bike from the front and took some handlebars to the ribs. Let’s just say I will remember to wear that chest protector from here on out. Sundays races weren’t to comfortable to ride and because of that one mistake it cost me my W!
