Personal History
Hi,
My name is Conor Marmion and I am a twenty year old living in Northern Ireland. I currently study medicine in Belfast and race quadcross at a national level and train as much as possible during the week. I have a practice track beside my house and if I do not have a race at the weekend I try to use it at least twice a week, once during the week and once at the weekend, other than using bike time as training I cycle twice a week to maintain a good level of fitness. I have tried different training methods such as going to the gym and running but I feel that these don't compare to bike time and cycling. I currently have a part time job to try to support my racing but it is quite difficult to make the money that I really will require if I want to progress in the sport especially due to the demands of the sport and my university course. At the minute I am a Grade B rider however next season I will be promoted to grade A in the Ulster Championship which is probably the most respected level in Ireland however my lap times recently have been getting closer to the top riders over here and at the most recent race I competed in, my fastest lap time was only 3 seconds of the pace of the rider who won the grade A race. As the season is coming to a close over here I am planning to maintain my fitness by staying on the practice track when the weather allows it and cycling, however I am also planning a full rebuild of my bike but I can do all of the labour myself which helps with costs however any sponsors that could help reduce the price of oem parts would be much appreciated however any sponsors willing to help would make it easier for me to concentrate on riding and racing the bike
Riding Goals
This year I plan to continue to improve my race results and increase my stamina, I believe that at the minute I am capable of gaining top 6 results in the premier quad class in Ireland, however I know that there is much room for improvement in my riding style and I have not reached my limit in speed yet. I believe in maybe 1 or 2 more seasons I could be challenging for the premier championship. If my 2011 season goes to plan and I gain sufficient sponsorships I would like to break into the British championship in 2012 i realise that this is along way away but this is where I want to be and there is no point aiming low.
