Personal History
Who Is #234
Hi, my name is Colt Whitaker. Some people call me CDub. Some call me WhitZ I'm 11 yrs old (4-2012) and I'm from a small town in SE Indiana called Greensburg. My town is famous because we have a tree growing out of our courthouse! I'm also the only kid I know in my county who races motocross, so that makes me a bit of a celebrity in my neck of the woods!
I started riding when I was 2 and my papaw decided all of his grandkids (6 girls and 2 boys) should learn how to ride dirt bikes. I knew from the very first ride that I had found my passion. I had to practice for several years before I could convince my parents to let me race. The very first race I tried was a Loretta Area Qualifier at Baja Acres. We had no idea what we were doing. I remember being really intimidated and taking off from the starting gate and maybe riding 6 feet in front of me before falling over! I somehow managed to finish 7th in my class, and I've been hooked ever since!
I wasn't a crazy, fast 50 kid. In fact, I really didn't race that much or take MX that seriously until I was almost done with 50's. I started to find my groove on the 65, and I've found a lot of success since: two trips to Loretta's, multiple top 5s at national and featured events, and huge growth as a rider. I was also selected for the 2022 SSR Race Team and invited by GasGas to the 2023 SMX 65cc World All Stars Race! I'm also fortunate to be an elite rider with Renen, Bell Helmets, Motul, and Motion Pro.
Outside of motocross, I like to play golf and basketball. I also swim for fun and to stay in shape. I love turtles and tortoises and would like to have a tortoise farm in addition to being a pro rider one day! I like riding anything with wheels, so I spend a lot of time on my BMX bike, my hoverboard, and my mom's golf cart. I also frequently help my dad out on the construction jobsite, whether it be picking up trash or running a skid loader. I'm a hard worker in just about everything I do.
Dirt bikes are a family activity for us. Both of my sisters have been riding for a long time (Lexie- 14 and Vivi- 7). They are my biggest cheerleaders, and I've been able to return the favor, as my little sister Vivi has raced her e-bike a few times. My dad has been riding his whole life, but he never raced, other than challenging me to a pit bike race now and then. My mom even learned to ride a couple of years ago. She grew up riding horses and says riding dirt bikes is pretty darn fun!
Riding Goals
A Dream Without a Goal Is Just A Dream
I'm now at the tail end of my 65cc career, as I've decided to skip my last year on 65's and will be racing in the 85cc (10-12), (9-11), and 85 Open classes for the 2024 season.
Ultimately my goal is to be the best rider I can be and to one day go pro. I'm very focused on my goal and know I can get there if I work hard. I'm student of my craft and I eat, sleep, and breathe all things motocross. When I'm not riding, you'll find me watching videos of riders I admire or playing MX sim. I'm coming off of another year of incredible progress, thanks to a ton of hard work and with the guidance of Kyle Cheeseman of Elite MX Training and Ryan Sipes of Moto Sandbox.I intend to continue improving.
As far as my racing, here are my goals:
Top 10- Loretta Lynn's National Championship
Top 5-10 All Other National/Featured Events
My ultimate goal is to go pro and make a living racing dirt bikes. In the meantime, I'm working on building a solid foundation of technique and skills. I've grown a tremendous amount in the pas year, and the future is incredibly bright!
