Personal History
My name is Colin Yates. I grew up in Southern California racing at all the local tracks from 1993 - 2002 and in April 2023, after taking 20+ years off from the sport, I decided to start riding again. The process of getting back into moto shape has been slow, brutal and rewarding, but with the help of riding coaches and personal trainers my overall health and riding has improved.
My occupation is a corporate pilot and Im married with one daughter. My wife and daughter love going to the races to watch and support me and we attempt to get out there a couple times a month. I normally practice at Glen Helen, Cahuilla Creek, Elsinore and other spots in So Cal.
When I'm not working or riding, I spend most of my time with my family, doing house projects, and other hobbies.
Riding Goals
I really love racing and found that Glen Helen promotes them almost every weekend, therefore I'm there often.
My goals for this year:
- Continue training, riding and racing.
- Get some wins in the intermediate class.
- Top 5 at Vet Fest in RedBud.
- Top 5 at the World Vet Nationals in Glen Helen.

2023 World Vet Nationals - 2nd Place +45 Novice.
2023 The Glen Winter Series - 1st Place +40 Novice
I've won many local races at Glen Helen in the +40 Novice class.
