Personal History

Names Cody Barton # 48! So I've been racing since I was about 11 years old. Started on a yz85 in 2002 . Got my feet wet with 2 races I got 22nd and 21st. The competition with friends got me super into the sport.  So we got another yz 85 in 2003. We got a PC pipe , Vforce reeds , renthal bars Triple clamps the whole shebang. I got 3rd overall that year in 2003. In 85cc novice class. The next year I went to amateur. Was top 10 every race. About 1/4 through the year I went to a 3 day Gary Bailey school. Which put me from top 10 amateur to a top 3 expert. in 2004 i got a  ktm 85 and won the 85 expert championship at winchester speedpark. Next year 2005 i got on a 2005 honda crf250.  That year i went and spent the winter in florida. I unfortunatly got head trauma after coming back from florida. I was ahead of most ALL my competetors but the head trauma at winchester speedpark set me back.  Came back in 2006 got a top 5 overall in the amateur class. 250b schoolboy . After that I went expert was called a sandbagger so I wanted to prove I wasn't. Did ok in 250 a and schoolboy a
Until a bad get off which left me with 2 broken legs. Dragging myself around on a skateboard. Never lost hope even when doctors said I may never ride again. I healed and my grandfather got me a brand new 2008 kx250f which I did very well on. Until I had gotten the news I was having a new born. I gave up mx got a job and really lost myself. I rather not get into it all. Well 2018 I was promoted. At my current job. Which I got a bonus and bought a brand new 2017 rmz 250. I was getting right back up to speed after 10 years of 0 motocross or training at 28 years of age. Running 4th in 250b. Broke my foot overshooting a jump. Had to work huffing ladders and climbing them in a cast because they knew I was walking on the boot. I healed and got back on the bike again. Racing was over at this time. I figured the 250 wasn't enough power so I was misjudging jumps and overshooting them. Sounds weird but I ended up letting the 17 250 go and getting a brand new 2018 rmz 450. I got comfortable on it and 2019 i did  2 races on it where I swept everything 1st , 1st ,1st , 1st. So I figured 2020 I'd try for a championship at VMA in vermont. [Vermont Motocross Association] in a 12 round series I made about 5 or 6 events 1 on the rmz then sold it and got a 2020 yz450. 1 race out of the 6 i got 3rd. The rest all 1st in 30+ A and 450 A. I  I have top 5 for the year in both classes. I went to the unadilla fall finale. Fell twice in the 1st moto for 7th and won the last moto for 3rd overall in 30+.  I now own my own company and sponsor myself a few other riders and my kids who all race as well.. I plan on racing NEMX next year me and my kids. We have my logo Barton's Perfection + on our bikes along with other sponsors. We always get looks at our bikes and questions of sponsors and sponsors fourth!

I would also like to try to get my son a few sponsors. His name is Urijah Barton he is 6 years old and has been riding since he was 3. This year was his first year racing and he did pretty well in the 50cc 7-10 and the 50cc open classes. He races the VMA circuit and got top 10 all races. He also raced as Canaan MX and won his 50cc 7-10 class. He raced the Fall finale at Unadilla with me and he got 4th overall for his 50cc class. He is on a KTM at the moment but is getting the brand new 50cc GasGas for christmas. I have no doubt he will be much faster this coming year, We will be also going to florida this winter to train for a few weeks.

Riding Goals

My riding goals would be to finish top 3 this year in the NEMX circuit. As well as trying to qualify for 450B at loretta's.

As for my son Urijah he would like to win a championship in 50cc 3-6 class.

Competitive Highlights

Riding Unadilla this year was without a doubt my most competitive highlight for the season. The competition was much more stiff than what i was used to on the VMA circuit. The track was much bigger which made for longer laps and races.

My sons highlight was also Unadilla. for both of us it was the biggest track we have raced. The gate line up was twice the size of our normal gate drops.
