Personal History

My name is Clayton Shingleton or "clay". I am seventeen years old and am a senior at lincoln high school, in a small town called shinnston, West Virginia. I have been riding dirtbikes since I was able to get on one by my self. I started out with a Yamaha ttr-110 that was a suprise for me during Christmas one year. Ofcourse bein a small bike and a fast growing kid, I quickly outgrew this bike, then moved on to the bigger bike with a clutch. A Yamaha ttr-125, I am a volunteer firefighter at spelter volunteer fire department my dad has been the chief ever since I was a kid. So ofcourse I was born into it. Everyone at the fire department raced and rode their dirtbikes. I looked up to them and tried to keep up with them while riding. I always wanted to race it was just the coolest thing in the world to me, however it still is and always will be. I would beg and beg my dad to let me race, and he would never let me because of the fact I could get hurt doing it. I kept bringing up the fact that I could die being a firefighter I could get seriously hurt, so what's so bad about racing? March, 2014 I brought home a brand new 2014 Yamaha yz250f. I would ride this bike for two years while in the process of begging to get to race. Seeing all my friends do it and fellow firefighters my dad became very curious about racing. One day I sat him down and had a serious talk. I said I'm going to get a job, if I pay for everything can I race? His answer shocked me and all of my friends, He said probably. My first race was a mountain state harescramble at church raceway, in Newburgh West Virginia. Ever since I have not missed one race. The bond it forms between family and friends the relationship and love you have with the sport and people. The feeling of being on the line is unlike any other. I race mountain state harescramble and gncc.
