2014 AMA Hill climbing District 14, 17 and 23
Objective
To obtain financial and/or product support while representing your company with the highest level of integrity and sportsmanship.
Background
I began hill climbing at the 2001 district 14-state championship in Bridgeton MI, on a Honda 80. That day, many other 80 riders that had been hill climbing since the 50cc class challenged me. When the day was finished I came out on top, that very next day my mom showed me the Muskegon chronicle and there was my name. It happened to me the beginning of a long lived dream. Another highlight to my young career was in 2002 at the amateur nationals in Delbarton, West Virginia. I placed 4th in the nation. That began a whole new stage in my racing career, having a national number brought competitive faces when you unloaded your bike at a new race.
March 25, 2010 my racing career took a downfall. I had lost the person that was behind me 110%, my mother. She had raised me to do what I love and never give up, don’t be cocky if you win and don’t be a sore loser when you lose because you can’t win them all and you will certainly lose some. After she died in our house fire I gave racing one more shot. I bought a pro bike and did a few pro-races on a gsxr1000 on NOS. After a very shot time I just realized it wasn’t the same without her.
September 22, 2013 I got the opportunity to ride two Harleys at the same hill I set the hill record on in June 2010 for the memorial of Amy Wilke (my mom). I rode in both the open class and the vintage class just to have a go on the second Harley that was not quite as fast or had as well of handling. I left that day with two first place and 3 tenths of a second away from yet another fast time of the day with two or three times the weight. That brought back my drive and love for the sport.
Winter 2013 I am in the making of building an 2006 zx636 to travel between three states every weekend I can in 2014 and hopefully win the 2014 amateur nationals in Bay City, WI. Any sponsorship or help is appreciated. References available on request please contact me with any questions.
Thank you for your time.
