Personal History

Monday through Friday, I'm a sales rep for one of the world's largest independent distributors of hardware, farm and building supplies - on the weekend I race motorcycles. My name is Chip Connell, and I'm from Greenwood, Mississippi. I'm a 27 year old college graduate making a long-overdue return to my motocross roots since graduating school. I've recently gotten back into the industry and sport on an RMZ450 to get back into shape and hopefully tap into a bit of newfound speed. I was a fairly established A-class rider regionally when I took my break for school, and my short-term goals would be to get back into shape in order to not only compete but also be competitive regionally in the A-class again. I've got a bit of local support from a former dealer sponsor, but I'm excited to begin building my resume again and get back into the racing scene with some committed support.

Riding Goals

In terms of short-term goals, I'd like to regain fitness levels and speed necessary to be competitive in the A-class regionally. But I've always wanted to get to Loretta's since I began racing. I qualified in the C-class and B-class, but was hurt both years in the weeks prior to heading to the ranch. Over the next year, I'd like to work on my fitness and speed in order to earn a position on the gates at the ranch again.

Competitive Highlights

-8th Place finish in Schoolboy at Lake Whitney in 2006 with Trey Canard and Ryan Dungey on the gate. -2nd Place finish at Texas Pro Challenge 250B
