Personal History

Hi there! My name is Chayce Lutz, I am 22 years old and I am from Sedalia Colorado. I have been riding dirt bikes since I was 8 years old, thanks to my dad and I have loved every minute of it since I started. The love of riding dirt bikes stemmed from my dad and he also passed his love of the sport onto my two younger brothers. As a family, we would go on camping trips all across the state and ride trails. From riding various terrain since I was little, I was able to teach myself a lot of techniques. After years of riding trails, my brother and I decided we wanted to start racing in the SRAC (Sports Riders Assoction of Colorado). I was 12 and my brother was 9 at the time. I started my racing career on a KX 60. I raced in the SRAC until I got ready to go to college up in Sterling, Colorado. While I was in college, I wasn’t able to race but I still made it a priority to ride as much as I could, in order to better my riding. After I got out of school, I came back home and got hired at Medved Ford as a mechanic. I have been a mechanic for the last three years and luckily have a lot of moto buddies in the shop. I got back into the racing scene about two years ago. My first race back was a CORCS (Colorado Off-Road Championship Series). It was a 12 hour hare scramble and I rode for 10 hours of the race and my team finished 6th overall out of 22 teams. After that race I knew that I wanted to race motocross and arenacross. I took what I learned and practiced for a year to get my racing techniques back under my belt and go for it. 2019 came around and I registered for both of the Kicker Arenacross races that were held in Colorado. The first race that was in Loveland was the race that gave me the opportunity to dust the rust off. I did not do as well as anticipated that day however, I turned it around for the race in Denver. Out of 45+ riders in both the 450 Beginner class and the 450 Beginner Outlaw class, I finished 5th in 450 Beginner and 7th in Beginner Outlaw.

Riding Goals

As a rider, I have set attainable goals for myself for this upcoming season of racing here in Colorado. My first goal is to improve myself, my techniques and my speed every single time that I get on my bike. I would like to be as fast as I possibly can be while also maintaining control but at the same time and continue to challenge myself. My second goal is to promote and support every one of my sponsors as professionally and positively as possible at every event and race that I attend. It is a privilege to be able to promote companies and be able to ride and race for them and that is how I will show it. The third goal that I have set for myself is to help the younger kids that are coming up in the sport to be the best that they possibly can be. This goal may sound a little strange however, I have seen so many kids get made fun of for not being as good or as fast as other riders. I have made it a point to fist bump at least 5 kids at every track and race I have been to this year. Those are the main goals that I would like to achieve in this year of racing.

Competitive Highlights

After having a couple years off from racing, I am pumped to get back into the scene. So far this year, I have raced in both of the Kicker Arenacross races that have come through Colorado. The first race in Loveland, I raced in two main event classes; 450 Novice and Open Outlaw. I placed 9th in the 450 Novice class overall out of 40 riders and in the Open Outlaw class, I placed 15th out of 50 riders. In Denver after getting used to the arenacross style of racing, I raced in the 450 Beginner and Beginner Outlaw class. I raced in both classes in the main event and finished in the top ten riders of both classes. For the 450 Beginner class, I finished 5th out of 45+ riders and in the Beginner outlaw class, I finished 7th out of 45+ riders. The year has just begun and I am so excited to be racing the entire SRAC series this summer and represent my sponsors here in Colorado!
