Personal History
HI! My name is Chase Carrasco. I love to ride motocross with my Dad! I rode a 2012 Cobra Senior in competition this past year!
I love riding at Michigan Mafia MXC in Flint! I am currently working on dialing in my new 2014 50 Cobra Senior. Overall I had a BLAST during the 2013 Outdoor MX season but the step up to in competition at the 50 SR level is fierce. This season I had quite a few gnarly get offs that were intense! Jumping more doubles and timing whoops sections is definitely NOT easy. Even with some set backs, I secured 4th overall in the D14 Michigan State Point Series race, even with sitting out the many of the fall races.
My goal for 2014 is to dial in the suspension and keep it on two wheels as much as I can. I definitely learned a lot this past 2013 season, in 50 JR with few riders on the gate, taking the podium is much easier than in 50 SR for sure. I just want to keep improving as a rider and having fun! I will travel to Loretta's qualifiers in the spring to try to get back to the ranch. I am working hard at Michigan Mafia indoors and can't wait to start training outdoors at Bulldogs Motorcycle Club.
In 2012 I made it to Loretta's on my junior taking 22nd overall. I won the 2012 Michigan State Championship in 50 JR. At the 2012 Baja Acres Monster Mash, I debuted on my 2012 Cobra 50 SR and 2011 Cobra 65. After a two month break for football season, I held my own against tough competitors! On my 65 I took 5th overall out of 19 on day 2 against kids 3 and 4 years OLDER than me.
Riding Goals
For the 2014 outdoor season, I am especially focusing on cornering, carrying speed in to jumps, and setting up a pass. After talking with my coaches, I am am going to try go back to Loretta's this year on my 50 senior. During the 2013-2014 indoor season, I plan to dial in my 50 SR and adjust to riding my Cobra 65!
Competitive Highlights
In 2010, I won MRA Best of the Midwest in July. I also was the MRA 2010 overall 4-8 Advanced Stock Champion. In 2011, I started racing 50 jr beginner. In May, I won 1st place @ Baja Acres in 50 jr beginner. In July 2011, I won first place @ Freelin MX, but I also beat all of the 50 cc seniors racing on the junior track that day!
In 2011, I finished in 3rd place in 50 JR for District 14 and the Progressive Fall series. Though I am always aiming for the top of the podium, I was happy that I broke the top 3 because I moved up to 50 JR mid-season. By the end of the season in 50JR, I swept all four motos to take first on both Saturday and Sunday at the 2011 Baja Acres Monster Mash. After the Baja Brawl National in September 2011, I was voted the 50 cc winner of the Motoplayground Levels Contest and featured in November 2011 The Pickle Illustrated Magazine. To win this, I received more facebook votes that any of the other 52 50cc riders. I won by over 100 votes in the 50 class and had the second most votes overall! Votes came in from Boston to Sacramento! At the Baja Brawl, I had a heartbreaking crash at the start in moto 3 in the SS class. I came back from last by nearly one full lap to secure third place overall in 50 ss! People watching were amazed at the heart I showed that day as I picked my way through a field of 17 riders!
My outdoor 2012 outdoor season began in March, I traveled to Kentucky for the Area qualifier for Loretta Lynn's. I went back for Mid-East Regional at Ballance MX and qualified for the RANCH! Though I am always looking to improve, I took 22nd overall against the fastest riders! Learning to ride with competition that ride all year long has been tough, but DEFINITELY worth it! After a long season and a lot of hard work, I won the 2012 50 Jr Points race for Michigan! At the 2012 Baja Acres Monster Mash, I recently moved up to 50 Sr and 65 Beginner! People were amazed that I took 5th out of 19 on my 65 against some kids far older than me!
My outdoor 2013 season was a roller coaster ride. After suffering a complex concussion during indoor prep sessions in January, I struggled to regain my confidence early in the season. While I had some great motos battling upfront with top regional and state riders at the LLQ and Baja Brawl, I has challenges putting consistent motos together for podium finishes. Even with those setbacks, I still had a BLAST and secured 4th place in the D14 MX point series even with sitting out many fall races for football season.
