Personal History
My name is Charles Henry Statt and I am seeking sponsorship and support for motocross racing for the 2010 season. I have been racing for 10 years, having started when I was 6 years old. I have had great success each year as I have gained more experience. I have attached a detailed list of my successes so far.
Riding Goals
This year i feel is my year to shine, after last years massive improvement throughout the British 2 Stroke Championship, from finishing 11th overall in 2008, moving up to 4th overall in 2009 and winning my first championship race, i feel 2010 is really my year to get on to the #1 Spot.
This will be my last year on my Kawasaki Kx125 2008 before moving to up to a 250 2 Stroke.
I will be taking part in the whole of the British 2 Stroke Championship and also entering for selected rounds of the British Masters along with my usual club meetings.
So any help for the forth-coming season would be highly appreciated, and i would like to take this chance to say a big thank you for reading this.
Competitive Highlights
Charles Statt’s racing career to date:
Started racing at age 6, but not that frequently. Spent many hours practicing at home.
AMCA Racing
At age 10 I joined the AMCA (Amateur Motorcycle Association). I raced in the ‘Inter Juniors’ on a Kawasaki 65 (age group 10-14). In my second season I was top Inter Junior rider. In my third season I changed to Suzuki ‘Small Wheel 85cc and was top Inter Junior again.
I changed to Kawasaki ‘Small wheel 85cc’ and began to race in the under 18 Junior class. Many riders were much more experienced than me and most were riding full sized ‘adult’ bikes. I ended the season top of that class, but the AMCA’s rules prevented from being upgraded to the next level (senior) because of my age. (Still only 13).
In 2006 I changed to Yamaha ‘Big wheel 85cc’ bike and was then eligible to ride in the Senior class. In this class I have been riding against adults and against bikes of up to 250cc, sometimes when the class is ‘unlimited’ I raced against bikes as large as 450cc. Despite the racing being a major step up, in terms of competitiveness and rider experience I still managed to be top Senior at the end of the 2006 season.
KWS and British Masters Championships
My first attempt at this National Championship was in 2004 and I rode in the ‘Small wheel 85cc’ class on my Suzuki. Unfortunately I missed the first round due to a quite bad injury (broken arm), despite some good performances struggled to regain my best form and fitness.
My second season in the KWS was much better. That year I rode the same class but on my Kawasaki, I completed all rounds and finished just outside the top 15. Many of the riders in this class were very experienced, so I learnt a lot during the year.
My third season (2006) has been a big success. I again missed the first round due to an injury, but at the second round I finished 6th overall, my best result was a 4th place. In all rounds I was amongst the front-runners, and now I have the speed and the experience to win. Despite only competing in 4 out of the 5 rounds I finished 8th in the championship.
My fourth season started off well with a 5th overall at Culham Park, Cumbria. Unfortunately then racing locally at Mallory Park, I sustained a broken leg and torn ligaments. This kept me out of racing for a few months. I then raced in the penultimate round at Matchams Park, Bournemouth and finished 11th and then the last round at Foxhills, Swindon finishing 5th. This put me a creditable 13th overall out of 45 riders.
British 2 Stroke / DEP Championship 2008
Riding a Kawasaki 125cc and have competed locally with top 5 positions throughout. I also competed in the DEP two stroke challenge with 10 rounds being held throughout the country, I qualified in the A group at each round I attended, battling with the likes of Dave Willett, Greg Hanson and other well known’s, it was fantastic. The first round at Canada Heights saw terrible weather conditions and was postponed after one race. 2nd Round Landrake, Cornwall 11th overall. 3rd Round Leisure Lakes, Blackpool, 26th overall only completed one race, my bike seized. Back for Round 4 at Pontralis Welsh Borders, my best result 6th overall.
Round 5 over to the east coast at Whitby, had quite a collision with someone despite having broken my shoulder, in the first race, but still managed to complete all the days racing, finishing 11th overall. Missed Round 6 and 7. Back to Mildenhall for Round 8 finished 11th overall. Round 9 and 10 to be held at Marshfield, Saturday and Sunday meeting To holeshot along side Tom Church was awesome, built my confidence and 6th overall result, again due to weather conditions Sunday’s racing was cancelled.
I finished 11th overall in the Championship out of 77 riders in my class.
Taken away from this, I found that I was 12 secs behind the leaders at the beginning of the championship which I brought down to 5 secs by the end of the championship.
