Personal History
I started riding dirt bikes at 14. I rode the foothills around my area and occasionally the local sand dunes.
I took a brief break in my later teens and got another bike at 21 and started riding local MX tracks with my friends. I raced a few ameteur mx races and a couple arenacross type races in the novice or beginner class. I was never really good at motor cross but I have always loved riding and have dreamed of being a motorcycle racer since I first saw a Dirt Bike magazine when I was 8.
Around age 30 I discovered single track riding. I have always mountain biked but for some reason never connected the two sports. At 36 I was introduced to desert racing and have fallen totally in love with it. I am above average when the trail gets technical. With desert racing I finally found my niche in motorcycle racing and am living out my childhood dream. I plan to continue racing the desert series until I can no longer swing a leg over a bike.
Riding Goals
This is my first full year of competing and I am currently 2nd in the points. I am determined to win the USRA Desert series in my class this year. I have the speed and am working on the stamina week by week. Riding smart and keeping my body and my bike in tact for the entire series so I can finish strong is my goal for the year.
Competitive Highlights
I won my first Desert race this year. It was a 107 mile long course with lots of sand. Over 1/3 of the entries DNF'd. This is my second year racing and my first year of attempting to run the whole series. I have not finished outside the top 3 yet. In the 3rd round I was 5 minutes ahead of second when I got a rear flat and still managed to run 10 miles at close to race pace and pulled out a 3rd.
