Personal History
My name is Camron Mitchell. I have been racing and training since I was seven years old. In 2019 my life long goal of turning pro was within reach. I traveled across the country to race SX Futures in order to get my pro license and I qualified for the Monster Energy Cup. A few weeks leading up to MEC my health started deteriorating. I somehow found the will to race that night even though I couldn’t barely hang on. I had no idea what was wrong with me and had a sinking feeling that it may be my last race. I flew home the next morning and started on a journey to get answers. My worst fears were nothing compared to the answer I received. I ended up being diagnosed with a WHO Grade Ii Astrocytoma brain tumor. At that moment my dream of lining up on the gate as a Pro vanished.
The tumor was resected in February 2020 just days before Covid hit. My surgeon successfully removed it and my prognosis is great! Thankfully my team of doctors understand my dedication to my sport and fully support it.
Since then I have been building my mental and physical health back to where it was. I have always been strong willed, hard working and determined to reach my goals. The day I was able to swing my leg over my bike again was one of the best days of my life.
Riding Goals
My 2021 goal is to qualify for the main in SX.
