Personal History

I am eight years old and I live in Melbourne, Florida.  I live with my mom, dad, and younger brother Colin who is two years old.  I have two dogs Armor and Loco who are both German Shepherds.  I have a close family with several grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I like to go riding on my bicycle with my younger brother.   I also spend time with Armor and Loco in the back yard playing.  I collect Pokemon cards and I have a lot of Hot Wheel cars, which my dad reminds me about every time he accidentally steps on one.

I love to go racing on the dirt bike.  I have learned a lot since I have started and enjoy getting on the track and riding.  I like the times where I have a hard time doing something on the track but then figure out how to do it.  Usually my dad talks with me and helps me with an area I am having problems with.  I have also had other older riders help me and they will sometimes ride with me on the track to show me how to ride through an area.  I really like it when I do something I thought I couldn’t previously do.  Usually, my dad says “see, I knew you could do it”.

My dad tells me that every time I go on the bike, I should try my hardest.  He says his dad told him if you’re not going to do something to the best of your abilities, then don’t do it at all.  My dad also doesn’t care what place I come in during a race.  He only cares that I went out on the track and tried my hardest and practiced what I have been taught.  He said if I always go on the track and try my hardest, then the first place finishes will come.  But the feeling that I did my best will always accompany me when I get back to the pits.

I have made a lot of new friends since I have been racing.  When we go racing, we sometimes get to take the camper with us.  I love to camp out at the track.  We get to have a fire and cook marshmallows and make s’mores.   I have a lot of fun at the track because I get to have fun both on and off the track.

Riding Goals

This year, I want to attend the Loretta Lynn area qualifiers in April and I have been practicing very hard with my coach Jacqueline Ross.  I hope to finish high enough at the area qualifier so I can advance to the regional qualifiers.  I want to see how my riding compare to other kids in my class at the regional level and I am sure I will learn a lot from those other riders.
I had a lot of fun competing in the Florida Trail Riders (FTR) motocross series last year.  However, we found out they are not having a motocross series this year as they had a hard time setting up the series.  My dad is talking with my coach and trying to figure out which series we will be competing in.  I am supposed to have my next race in March with the Florida Series.

I have not participated in too many races this winter as my dad and I have been working with Coach Jacqueline.  She has been wanting me to concentrate on my riding.  My dad takes me to the track as often as he can, and I usually work with Coach Jacqueline weekly.

My long term goal is to advance to the 65 cc class.  I am only eligible to race in the 50cc class until the end of the year.  My coach wants me to stay on the 50 so my riding technique becomes automatic before I advance to the 65.  She says that when I go to the 65, and have to learn the clutch and gears, I will not have to think about my body position while I’m on the track because I will be so used to it.

I want to become the best motocross racer I can be.  I know that if I try hard and pay attention to what my coach is teaching me, I will meet my goals.

Competitive Highlights

I competed in the Florida Trail Riders motocross series in 2014.  At the beginning, my dad only had me race in the 50cc 7-8 class.  After a few races, I was also racing in the 50cc open class.  We went to all the races in the series except for one when my bike broke.  I was very disappointed when the mechanic said it couldn't be fixed in time for the next race.  Even thought I missed one of the races, I still came in second overall in the 7-8 class.  I came in forth overall in the open class even though I did not participate in the first few races.

I haven't won my first race YET!!  But I know if i keep trying my hardest, I will achieve my goals.  I have been practicing what I would say on the podium and thanking my coach and mechanics.  I use what equipment brands we have to practice thanking my future sponsors.
