Personal History

I am a full-time college student from Newton, Iowa. I currently study at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny where I rent an apartment and work at Perishable Distributors of Iowa at night and on weekends. In August I plan to transfer to the University of Iowa where I will study Physical Therapy. My hobbies include weightlifting, snowboarding, and most of all, racing motorcycles. I saved up and bought my first dirt bike three years ago at 16, and since then I've been obsessed. I love to ride anything with two wheels. I ride a dual sport everyday to class and work as my only vehicle. On weekends, I schedule my work hours around my races so my dad and I can attend nearly every race in Iowa and sometimes the surrounding states. You name it, I've tried it- motocross is my main focus, but I also race harescrambles, enduros, extreme enduros, and in May I am trying my first hill climb.

Riding Goals

I started riding late in life- 16. Since then, I have focused on becoming a better, faster, and safer rider. I ride because I love it. The past two years I have raced over 10 times a year, figuring out what racing is really like and adjusting to a new sport. This year, I have decided to ramp up my efforts and start training. I try to ride at least twice a week- once during the week and then whatever event or race is that weekend. When I practice, I try to stress technique. When my dad goes with, I give him a list of things to watch me to make sure I am doing like keeping my elbows up, avoiding coasting, and looking ahead. I also practice with a local pro Brad Deprenger often, and plan to take his MX skills class. My riding goals for this year are to progress to "B" class and get some good race results. Eventually within the next few years, I want to continue training enough to make the jump to A.

Competitive Highlights

My second year of riding I trophied consistently at local races around Iowa. For motocross events, I had a third place finish in Sigourney, Iowa, a second place finish at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, another third place at Hawkeye Downs, fifth at the National Cattle Congress in Waterloo. My classes very rarely have less than 15 riders. I also finished 14th overall in my section at the UrbanCross (mix of motocross, harescramble, pavement, and extreme enduro) event in Waterloo out of 70+ riders. For this year, I plan to improve my technique and speed and get results at bigger races with tougher competition.
