Personal History
Born and raised in Rochester IL my early years were spent going to Flat Track, Motocross and Sport moto races with my dad and my family. My dad raced Sport moto locally as well as outdoor Motocross and my Cousin Nick Williams raced AMA Flat track for a couple years in the early 2000's.
My first ride on a bike was when I was a year old when my dad put me on the tank of his Honda Superhawk then proceeded to wheelie up and down the street with me, since that moment I have had a unquenchable desire to go fast.
My first personal bike was a old Honda CRF50 that my dad had gotten me for my 5th birthday, I spent a couple years on that bike until I finally got a DRZ 125 which I enjoyed riding in the trails with my dad who was on his CRF450R. When I got my DRZ 250 a couple years later my dad slowly stopped riding his newer CRF450R due to needing to work a lot as he was trying to save up to race his newly converted 02 CRF450R in Super moto but unfortunately that never happened. I got a lot better in the trails and competed locally in the outdoor Motocross but never really enjoyed it without my dad being there and it never really filled the spark I had. I eventually sold my DRZ and worked full time to support myself, for the next couple years I only rode street in my limited free time, dreaming of saving enough money to finally get on track with my street bike.
Unfortunately for a couple years it never looked like I would get there, every time I saved up some money life happened and I would have to start at square one all over again. Then the spark of wanting to go fast was once again ignited in me when my dad, my uncle and I took our sports bikes and rode them almost 2,000 miles down to Austin Texas to watch the MotoGP race last year. I hadnt been to a Motogp Race since 2008 when My dad, My grandfather, my uncle, a couple of my dads friends and myself went to the Indy Gp and once again I fell in love and wanted to go fast. On our ride home I made a vow to myself that I would be racing in the next year, and I followed that vow.
Not even 2 months later I was on track at Grattan Raceway with Sportbike track time, it was during the first session I realized that I was way too tense and was thinking like I was on the street, prepared to move at a moments notice to avoid a idiot. It took me all weekend to get comfortable but finally at the end of the weekend I almost got my bump to intermediate, rain unfortunately killed that.
2 weeks after that track event my dad, my uncle and myself again set out on a road trip to see Moto America at Road America, we had gotten tickets from a buddy who owns a local motorcycle shop, but unfortunately this trip wasn't like the last as my rectifier died 2 hours into the ride and my uncles brand new rear tire developed a bulge in the sidewall. My uncle limped his bike back home grabbing the truck and trailer and picked me up meeting my dad at the hotel at around 11pm that night with my dads bike being the only one to make it there on its own. We then spent the weekend watching the MotoAmerica races and I fell completely in love with the atmosphere there and in love with the track Layout of Road America which made me want to get to the racing stage faster.
The next track event took a couple months but it was worth it as my dad and I got on track at Road America where I finally got my bump to intermediate, that weekend I talked with a lot of the coaches who raced and implemented the tips they gave me during the sessions, I left feeling extremely confident and booked the next track session on the way home back at Grattan raceway to also get my race license as well.
I spent the next couple weeks removing the stock body work and I installed the Race fairings on the bike as well as the newly unlocked Sports kit ECU which allowed me to change sprocket settings and tire sizes. That track weekend went great and I got my Race license in the cold high of 50 degrees and in the rain. My dad and I then shortly after traveled to Barber Motorsports park, saw the entire museum and ran the track for 2 days which allowed me to put down my fastest time of a 1:40 flat.
I spent the winter upgrading and making the bike better as well as converting my dads 13 CRF450R to super moto since we no longer rode on dirt.
This year I began the Road racing journey and honestly I love it, the entire atmosphere is amazing and I have made some amazing friends this year. I ended my season with 2 2nd place overalls, 1 3rd place and 4 4th place overalls for my first year which is not bad at all. I cant wait for next year which should be a lot better as I am basically breaking the bank to make both bikes and myself be outstanding.
Riding Goals
My goals for riding short term wise (next year) are to get better on track as well as to either end the year on the podium overall or with the number #1 plate all while representing my sponsors the best way I can both on and off the track. I plan to take part in a lot of car shows to try to bring more people into this sport as well as the younger generations.
The long term goals is to race in the MotoAmerica Racing series in Stock 1000cc and Superbike as well as to race in the AMA Super moto competition.
Competitive Highlights
My competition highlights are my first place in my second ever race, my dual 2nd places my 2nd weekend of racing on my CBR and on my super moto, the consistency of staying in the top 5 all year and continuing to learn.
