Rider Updates

After a crazy summer with racing, working and getting ready to leave for college I am back. I fell a little behind with updating my profile, but now that I'm moved in to Wyotech I finally can get all the things I have been putting off caught up. I've had quite the year so far with racing because I jumped from C to A class. It has been extremely challenging, but I'm coming up to speed so things are starting to look brighter. I want to thanks everyone for all the support They gave me this year and hope to have another great season next year!

I attended another Dirtwise with Shane Watts school on June 2/3. This was one of his new hardcore schools. It was great. It wasn't quite as intense as I was hoping for or expecting. I believe this was because none of my class mates had attened the normal course yet. This fact far from ruined the experience though. Shane gave us some extreme hardcore exercise! I wasn't able to complete three of them! They gave me new ideas to work on for better bike contol. I learned a ton! Keep it up Shane you amaze me at every school!

I received my awesome blue and yellow hardware jersey today. It looks sweet and it made me pumped for the first race. I also got sniper gloves, elite series helmet and a chest protector. Now I'm ready to rip for the season, and I'll look awesome doing it. From smith I got 2 pairs of the fuel enduro goggles with the roll offs. They are a great goggle and fit great in the new helmet. Now I just need my new bike. I should be getting it in the next few weeks and I'll be ready for the season to come.

After an exciting season with a slow start and some ups and downs it is over. I placed second in the last race behind the number one guy in points and ended up number two in the series. I had an awesome race coming from way back to on my fourth lap catching and passing the leader on a hill climb with a variation of the 180 wheelie that I learned at Dirt Wise with Shane Watts School. It was so cool I impressed myself. But my lead didn't last long. I made a rookie mistake and pitted for gas at the wrong time and let the GNCC champ by and I was never able to catch back up. Over all it was a good year though. In my second year of racing I was able to come in second place in the series with two class wins. The AWRCS series is one of the most challenging harescramble series in PA. I was disappointed not to win it, but second is a pretty high honour looking at the races in my class, which one of them won the GNCC championship in the open c 22+ class.
Not only did I get second in the series I also learned some very valuable racing lessons. I learned it’s not only necessary to pit for gas but you must do it at the right time. Conditioning goes a long way in two hours of racing. Expect the unexpected when it comes to keeping your bike running. You don't need the best equipment to win (my 2007 has been on its last leg all year long) you just need to want to win. The amount of time you make up going super fast gets cancelled out when you take in account the time you waste picking up yo

This was quite the race. Round 9 AWRCS will be one to remember for sure. It seemed like everything was falling in place for a good day until ten seconds was called. I had my worst start of the season which was seconded to last and got stuck in two mud holes all in the first lap. But I did a good job of making up the time and when I emerged from the woods I ended up in fifth place. But that was only the beginning. On the next four laps I got stuck in the man eating mud holes many times, but I worked my way up to third going into my last lap. On my last lap I overtook second place then disaster struck. . . . I ran out of gas five miles back from the pits. That tops my dumb mistakes of all time list by a long shot. But I wasn't going to give up after making it that far, so I hiked five miles to the pits got my gas can and got a ride from a friend back in and filled up my tank. I finished the last five miles in about ten more minutes. Then to my surprise I ended up third place because only three in my class finished the fifth lap. I was pretty pumped! My fifth lap took me an hour and twelve minutes, but it was completely worth it! Lets just say though I learned a lesson on how important that gas oil mixture is to finishing a race, that mistake will never happen again!
