Personal History

My name is Brett Charles White, I am 19 years old. Ia m a Christian. I live in the Rutherfordton, North Carolina. I was born July 31, 1996. I currently work at Bi-Lo in the meat department to support my racing. I live with my mother Sherry Hill and step father Scott Boone. I have one older brother who is 23 and is married. My mother and father got a divorce when I was 3 years old. I rarely see my father. I used to live with my grandparents a lot when I was younger when I turned 7 years old they bought me my first bike hoping that it would take my mind off a lot of the situations I was going through at the time, like my parents divorce and having to live in different houses like with my grandparents, my mom or her parents.

As I got older the more I feel in love with riding. My grandparents then bought me a Yamaha ttr-125 dirt bike. I rode at a place called flat rock behind my house back in the woods, but I got tired of trails and wanted something different so I made a motocross track at my house when i was 12. I started doing my research on racing and what it was about. I studied all the rules and learned all I could about the fast paced sport. The more I learned and the more I watched the races that came on television. The more I knew that motocross racing was what I wanted to do as a career in life.

When I turned 14 years old, after doing my research about motocross racing I realized that the bike I had was not going to work, but not growing up in a wealthy family did not help me with my financial means. I knew in order to get the dirt bike I needed I would have to work. My step father got me a job with his brother Jesse Boone who owned a sawmill company. My job there was to work the green chain and off bare lumber. I learned at a young age that if there is anything in life worth having you had to work for it. I worked there for two weeks till I made the money I needed to buy my first actual motocross bike. The sawmill was certainly not the easiest job in the world. I took the money I made quit the job and sold my Yamaha ttr-125 dirt bike and bought the best bike I could afford. I bought a Honda crf 250r 2007 dirt bike.

I kept on riding and practicing on the track I made at my house. When I turned 17 I started riding at Matt Hamilton's track in Polk County, North Carolina. I trained with his son who raced a Loretta Lynn's Motocross Ranch. He taught me a lot and improved my lap times. We went to Matt's track to practice one day and he let me ride his Kawasaki kx 250f 2014. As soon as I made one lap I knew that I wanted one. I sold my crf 250r and bought a Kawasaki kx 250f 2011 plus the money I was saving from my job at Bi-Lo. I knew if I was going to be the best then I had to train like the best. I started going to the gym when I was 18 years old to improve my fitness. I am currently going to Lifestyles Gym to improve the most I can on endurance and strength.

When I turned 19 I entered my first race at Cathey's Creek Motocross park. I entered in the D class for my first big race. On August 1, 2015. I was so nervous. I didn't know what to expect. The only thing I knew was for 7 years I have been waiting to enter my first race and here I am. When moto 1 was over I realized this was definitely for me. Passing other competitors was the greatest feeling in the world. I decided not to go to college, instead to pursue my goal of racing.

I told my mother when I was 12 years old that this was what I wanted to do in life she was 110% behind me. She has gave me advice and she is my number one supporter. So I am going to train as hard as I need to to get to my goals. My mom always told me, " I know you are not afraid to work hard, put your trust in God and believe in yourself then you can be the greatest racer in the sport.

Riding Goals

I am currently in the D class. This summer I want to improve my skills on the bike. I plan on training with Jim Neese in Asheville, North Carolina this summer as well to improve my skills. By 2017 I plan on moving to the C class and racing in the Southeast regionals and go to Loretta Lynn's. Then the next season move to the B class and then the next season move to the amateur pro's.

Competitive Highlights

My first race at Cathey's Creek motocross park. In moto 1 I came 19 out of 25. In moto 1 I was caught in the gate everyone had a minute head start on me. When I got out of the gate I didn't panic and corrected my mistake then ended being 19th place. In moto 2 I came 16th out of 25. I stalled my bike out at the starting gate. Once again I didn't get upset I corrected my mistake and caught up to the pack and ended up being 16th place. After racing I earned a sponsorship from Powersports a local dirt bike and atv shop located in Forest City, North Carolina.
