Personal History
Personal History
-Rode motocross bikes since I was 6 years old. Home made mini bike->1991 RM80 -> 1996 RM250.
-Raced in AMA at Beaverdale, PA Hillclimbs on my RM80 at the age of 11. Consistently placed top 3. (Kind of irrelevant, but I loved those days!)
-7 year lapse in any seat time of a MX bike what so ever due to unfortunately having to sell my dirt bike when I turned 17 to be able to afford a car.
- Joined the USAF at age 18 and have been deployed 3 times and have seen many places. I've been stationed here at Kadena AB since August 2010, and never knew people rode Mx here. Until, one time when I was filling up my gas tank at an on base gas pump and saw a stepvan with a dirt bike in the back. I instantly got the itch and campaigned for info the following couple of days until I met the right person who was able to connect me with all the available sources. Within a week I had a bike and was already beginning to network. It was this struggle to obtain info here about dirt bikes that has me wanting to advertise the fun that I have every weekend here.
Riding Goals
Riding Goals
- Participate in as many races as possible, to establish a confidence level and gain the Mx competitive experience required to win.
- Currently I've only raced one time in intermediate class here in Okinawa, Japan... Although I did not place, I had the fastest lap time along with only being 4 seconds behind the average expert rider. So my goal is to compete at the expert level by the time I leave in August 2014.
- Obtain a Mx mentor... Unfortunately the language barrier here makes it hard, but I'm trying to learn japanese enough to where I can communicate and learn from the more experienced riders.
- Establish a club to support/motivate new US Military members here in Okinawa to ride motocross. So far I have created a Facebook group called Oki Motocross and currently have 14 members. We continue to get inquires/interest among Americans here and I have helped several people buy bikes as well as transportation to and from the track.
- Ultimately would like to leave here with a good foundation of experience that I can take back with me to the United States and be a worthy competitor!
- Connect with various sponsors to ease the burden of the exchange rate on the expensive local Japanese Economy.
- Do all the above while being an awesome dad, and a supportive husband.
