Personal History
I’m a 38 year old, father of two, former A class rider just getting back into racing motocross and riding for fun. I’m from northeast Alabama about 45 minutes from Birmingham. I have ridden and raced all my life. I started riding just like anyone else when I was 5 years old, started racing when I was 7, and continued to ride and race over the next 20+ years. When I was about 30 or 31 I took a break from motocross for various reasons, but I bought a brand new bike last year and have been preparing my bike and myself to get back into racing in 2024. Over the past year I’ve spent time on the bike freshening up my fundamentals and skills, and getting my bike set up just how I want it. Which is ultimately what led me to MX Sponsor. Financially, motocross can be taxing on your bank account, especially with a family and household to support. When I found out about MX Sponsor I thought it was a great opportunity to get some help from the brands that I would already want to represent, and in turn be a brand ambassador for those brands in a professional manner. While I may not have time to get to a race every weekend, I have another way I could be of value to those companies that decide to help me on my journey back into motocross. In addition to my fitness, seat time, and bike setup over the past year, I have also been investing in video and camera equipment to have a presence on YouTube and social media platforms in the way of unboxing videos, product tests and reviews, how-to/ install videos, and regular posts across social media whether it be photo or video. I have a very outgoing personality and have tons of experience in media capture and production. Probably most notably for the motocross-minded, I was the Operations Manager for Speedzone Motorsports when they opened where I worked with Chad Reed and Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg. Aside from just the sponsor/business side of things I was responsible for, I attended races where I would do internal photo and video work for Speedzone with Chad. I also was responsible for nearly all of the social media posting for Speedzone. Which was not only taking the photos and videos, but also editing them and getting them posted out into the world. I have a pretty good understanding of what it takes to produce good quality photos and videos for people to enjoy, and to represent a brand in a professional manner.
In my professional life I am the lead electrician and a fabricator at one of the top hot rod shops in the world. We make top of the line, world-class shows cars, and race cars of varying types with a heavy focus on land speed race cars. We have built show cars that have won the most prestigious of awards, and we have built land speed racing cars that have set numerous world records. It was an interesting job history that landed me where I am today. Aside from my time in the motorsports industry I have built cars for Honda, worked as a maintenance technician at several places, done car audio for years and years, been a welder, a salesman, an engineer, a Harley-Davidson test rider, a car racing school driving instructor, and built and repaired Hellfire missiles for Lockheed Martin. When I graduated high school I went to college for electronic engineering, worked in the field, and then went back to college for mechanical engineering.
At home I’m the father of two awesome little boys, Beckett (almost 3) and Banks (almost 1). I’ve been with their mother for about 7 years and love building our little family with her. Aside from work and motorsports I am also a lover of music. I play drums, guitar, and piano, and I have music playing somehow nearly all the time. I love music. And I love music of all kinds. I’m not into really hardcore rock, and not so much a fan of the new “hood” type gangster rap, but I enjoy and appreciate music of all genres.
Riding Goals
My riding goals are pretty simple. At this stage of my life, my main focus in riding and racing is form and fundamentals. I’ve been an A class rider for many years in the past, so I know how to be proficient on a motorcycle, but these days I focus more on riding the motorcycle correctly. I have always been obsessed with riding form and fundamentals, but these days it makes more sense to me to focus on that rather than trying to win championships. So I would say my riding goals are more on a “per ride” or “per period of time” basis, really dialing in those fine skills. And having fun is a goal of mine. I know in the past I have been so serious about racing that I almost lost sight of having fun doing it. So I’ve made it a goal to always enjoy it and for everyone around me to enjoy it as well.
Competitive Highlights
I beat Zach Osborne in a race! Pit bike race, but the details are irrelevant... LOL It has been quite a while since I raced seriously and I've probably forgotten more than I've remembered, but I won alot of bigger races in the A class in the Southeast. And I finished top 5 more times than not. That's gotta count for something, right?
