Personal History

Ben Yelton #307

I have ridden dirt bikes, quads and snowmobiles for the last 15 years. I started racing dirt bikes run the Montana XC circuit. This was my first introduction into racing and although I never placed very well I was was good experience in getting me used to racing and greatly increased my riding skill. I switched over the the Wyoming XC circuit after a few years but found the course a little too easy. Having said this I was still struggling with placement on the races. Starting in 2019 I bought a 2007 Yamaha YFZ450 and feel in love with it. I found that I was much quicker and more competitive on the quad than I ever was on the bike.

Riding Goals

My goals for this year are mainly focused on a podium for my class in the Colorado Off Road Series. 2019 was my first year racing my quad and I was only able to compete at 2 event through out the summer. Last year was my first year doing the full series I attended every event and placed 5th, 6th, or 7th at every race except one(flat tire ended my race 1 hour 10 minutes in). My total for the 2020 season put me at 5th place over all. This year I feel confident that I will be fighting for a top 3 position for each event and the over all 2021 season. I feel like I am going into the season much more prepared and ready for whatever the season may throw at me. Last year also showed me where my riding was lacking and I am looking forward to improving those areas.

Competitive Highlights

My competitive highlights I feel are lacking. The start of my racing career was rocky to say the least. Although my placements in the Montana series were towards the bottom of the pack, I can say I was happy to finish every race. The tracks proved to be extremely difficult and were great preparation for other series. By the time I started the Wyoming series I found the track and time limit very easy. My riding skill had greatly improved but i was still struggling on my bike. Once I switched to my quad I finally became competitive. My highlights come from the 2019 and 2020 CORCS series' and include an overall finish of 5th place as well as-
