Speed TV is showing highlights of different nights of Arenacross.com.    I  raced at Baltimore, Louisville, Greensboro, and Wilkes-Barre.  SPEED TV was at Baltimore and Wilkes-Barre.  I saw a 10 second clip of Friday's 65cc race at Baltimore.  When the gate drops, there I am coming out of the gate.

We Raced in Wilkes-Barre (berry) PA, March 13,14, and 15 at the Wachovia Center Arena.  Friday night Austin took 2nd, and Saturday night in front of a sell out crowd of 8000, he placed 3rd.   Top 3 always gets you on the podium.  This was the 2nd and 3rd time he had has been in the top 3 in Arenacross.  Speed TV taped both nights, including the interviews.  But the "kids" probably won't make it "on air".

Austin has family who lives in PA about an hour away, and were there Friday and Friday night supporting him.  Miss Arenacross, Ashley, asked him about the race and the track, then asked him who he would like to thank.  He included his 2 year old cousin, and we heard a big cheer in the crowd (I bet it was Roman's family).

Friday night there were only a few 65cc's that ran.  But Saturday night was a full gate.  #16 Justin Cooper is the National Champ, so we are very proud of Austin's 2nd and 3rd place finishes.  Austin was also the only 65cc rider from North Carolina both nights.

Sunday was Amateur day, and a 2nd to last lap wreck took him out while he was running 3rd.  The video of him slamming into the tuff blocks ( the walls at the top of the turns)  looked like he should have been hurt bad.  But the EMT's said no broken bones, but a badly bruised right thigh.  No sooner than the adrenalin had worn off,  he was back on his bike riding to the trailer.

This is the website showing Austin's results for the races he's competed in.  He had alot of tough competition this weekend.  The 7-11 yr old national amateur winner was there along with several other top racers.  Friday night he qualified and placed 11th out of 17 in the Main Event; Saturday night he did not qualify (18th out of 24 and only 16 could advance to the Main Event); and Sunday he qualified and placed 7th out of 24.  We had beautiful weather on Friday and freezing cold on Saturday and Sunday with snow on Sunday.

Saturday, January 31, Austin will be at the Greensboro Coliseum on Pro night and Sunday, February 1, for the Amateur race.  Saturday night is the big event with the Pro Arenacross racers.  Following are times and ticket information (also at the above website).  I would love for you to come watch him race if you don't have anything else planned.

As you can see by the time on this e-mail, it is 1:50 am.  Yes, we're finally home and going to bed.  I'm sure Austin will be very tired for school.  We knocked his homework out Friday between practice and qualifying.  I hope he got everything done.  Thanks for supporting him!

I started a new series in June.  I ran track and field for the Hickory NC recreation Center in May and most of June.  I ran the 800 meter, the 1500 meter, the 3000 meter, and long jump.   My past time was 12:45 in the 3000m ( thats running 2 miles!)

This is the first year I have raced in the JMX series.  we run at TOP GUN MX, Lincolnton NC; CATHEY'S CREEK MX, Forest City NC; and REVOLUTION PARK MX, in Carlisle SC.

I like running different tracks each week because I can see improvment each time I race.

I'm currently 2nd in points, 65 SR, and 3rd- 65 Open.

We are trying different tracks this season.  Top Gun is not as fast as Daniels Ridge, but a whole lot more turns and small jumps.  We were consistant in the practice and heat race, but the main event was rained out.

Austin wants to go back to Top Gun.  Once he learns the track he will be more competitive.

c      Austin finished the Daniel's Ridge Winter Season (Sept-March,
Taylorsville NC) in 5th place in points (65 10-11).  We only started racing in July 07, so we are very proud.  The end of season banquet was fun, and
Austin's door prizes included Scott Goggles, tear off's, and new grips.

We raced at a Thunder Valley Friday night 4-11-08 in
Yadkinville NC.  Austin had never rode
this track, and I couldn't take him to practice the night before.   Luck and skill helped us to a 3rd place
finish.

Austin holds on to 5th place in points at the end of the Winter Series.  Only starting to race in July 2007, Austin entered the Winter Series in October.  So in his first year of racing, he has won 1st place at Toyota Arenacross in Pikeville KY, and 5th in points at his Home Track!

A top 5 finish will keep me in 5th place in points for the Winter Season.  This is my first Series and am excited that I might get to go to my first racers banquet.  They have awards and prises.

We had an exciting 3 day weekend. We drove 5 hours Friday morning to to particapate with the "pros" Friday and Saturday nights. Toyota Arenacross is more than just a race. It is a show, rock concert, and race all rolled into one! Our best finish was Sunday, where Austin took 1st place on his KTM 65sx. We want to thank our sponsor, DeCal works, and Mom and Dad.
