Personal History
My name is Austin Pennington (#125) and I have spent ten years racing in Washington State and British Columbia at AMA, CMA and CMRC sanctioned events. I am 16 years old and currently riding a KTM 125. I started riding a Honda 50 when I was 5 years old and competed in my first indoor arenacross and outdoor motocross when I was 7 years old in 2003. I prefer racing the outdoor motocross series because of the different track conditions and the challenge of it all. I ride best in muddy and mucky conditions like we have in the Pacific Northwest. I try my best to get the holeshot as many times as I can so I can be out front of the pack right at the start instead of trying to pass other riders around the track.
One of the things in life that I am most proud of is winning the 2008 Washington State Gold Star Series in the 80cc class (7-11) on my KX85. I travelled with my parents to ten different races to win that overall trophy. It was truly sweet. My next most cherished event was the overall championship I took home in the British Columbia Arenacross series in 2010.
I get my desire and interest in motorcyling from my dad (John) and my competitiveness and athletic abilities from my mom (Rose). My dad is my biggest supporter because he is at every race with me cheering me on and maintaining my bikes. My dad also races and sometimes we ride and race together. Other interests when I am not racing or riding include watching videos of Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Villopoto, Darcy Lange and Colton Facciotti. I also play competitive soccer (gold level) and ride my BMX bike to keep me in shape during the off season. I also like Xbox and video editing in my spare time.
This year in grade 11 I will be focusing a little more on my school work and studies so that I can get into university in a couple of years however, I hope to get in as many races that I can during the season.
I would like to thank all my present and past sponsors for giving me the chance to represent and use their great products to help me get to the finish line first..
Riding Goals
Some of my goals for the upcoming 2013 season are getting the holeshot more consistently and trying to stay out front of the pack. Working on my corners, speed through the whoops and to ride a consistent fast race. I plan to race as often as I can this season with the help of my dad and mom and our fantastic funmover (home away from home) to get us there. I want to do the Loretta Lynn qualifiers again and will try my best to make it to Texas this year.
