Personal History

My name is Austin Walton and I live with my family in Yuma, Az. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 6. I finally talked my parents into letting me race about 2 years ago. I came out and won my first 2 races and was addicted! I moved through the beginer classes and into the novice class. I have been moving up with each race and finally one my first novice race last week. I attend high school and help my dad with his construction company. My parents have always supported me and love to watch and encourage me at the track. I have 2 sisters that are always ready to cheer for me. We have a group of riders from Yuma that kind of caravan and camp together at the races as they are all 3 to 4 hours away from us. it is great to spent the weekend with my friends and family. I also love racing against my friends. I am learning a lot about how motorcycles run and how to repair them. I figure if I am going to ride them I should know how to fix them.I am a straight A student and am considering taking some collage classed while I am still in high school. I am very interested in welding and mechanics.

Riding Goals

I really want to work on winning the 250 novice class this year. I have been getting faster with each race and am ready to be out front again. I have just purchased a new 125 and am excited to get going in that class.  I want to continue to improve my lap times and improve my form and cornering.

Competitive Highlights

The very first time I raced at the Arizona State championship race, I used the only motorcycle I owned, a 2009 KTM 450 and went out and raced open beginner. I had never been to a track or raced. I went out and won both of my races that day. The track officials immediatly moved me up to the novice class. This was really discouraging. I ran the summer series as beginner and got a chance to get some more practice. I had a race in the summer series that had 32 riders on the gate and I WON! I got the hole shot and kept it for 4 laps. When the state championships started back up I did a little better. I have fighting my way back to the front for over a year and this past weekend I finally won my first novice race. It has been a long while since I came home with a trophy and it felt great.
