Personal History
I'm a nineteen year old dirtbike rider/ racer, and I have a deep love for this sport. I currently ride a 2009 125 SX, and love it for it's light weight and capability to conquer whatever terrain. I'm a college student studying to become a physical therapist in the near future. I would like to become a specialist in sports injuries, dealing with high school athletes and athletes of other competitive ages, because as a high school athlete i experienced two injuries during baseball season which gave me great insight into a choice career. I have been riding for four years and the two injuries collectively took me off the bike for one year, but through great protection and dedication to getting healthy and surpassing my previous fitness levels, I have continued to get faster each time I go out.
During high school, my competitive focus was baseball. My results as a repeating First Team All- League infielder show that I was dedicated and willing to work each time I set foot on the field. After an injury from pitching made it apparent that I wouldn't be able to play in college, I directed my competitive drive towards becoming a better and faster rider.
Most importantly, I have my family and friends to thank for supporting me in which ever sport that I decided to compete in.
Riding Goals
My goals as a rider are:
To become mechanically sound; Three quarters of my rides are with a specific mechanical focus. Whether it be to correct my posture through a corner, or how to conserve energy while maintaining momentum.
To become faster in all areas; I plan to do this by riding multiple disciplines, such as friends' moto tracks, enduro tracks, grass track. Any type of riding that will come up while out on the trail or during a race, I want to be pushing the pace/ pack.
To be innovative with line choices; For me to do this, I work on keeping my eyes as far ahead as possible and searching the terrain for someway to conserve energy or gain valuable time over competitors. Two of my favorite riders for this very reason, would have to be Kailub Russel and James Stewart.
To compete in more races; I have the transportation for races, all I need is the economic background to make this possible. Why I race is so that I can get out with other riders who share the same love and commitment, and to show the hard work and time that I have logged on the bike during the weeknights after school and on the weekends.
Competitive Highlights
Dick Jagow GP, Washougal Washington, 2nd Place- This was the first time that I was allowed to race and I battled back and forth with first place for an hour and fifteen minutes in the mud, but having a stock gas tank I ran low on gas and had to pit, and couldn't quite pull back the gap.
All though this is my only race, I plan to do more this year and would eventually like to race for the OMRA series. Again this is somewhat dependent on the level of support that I receive. I work full time during the summer and part time during the school year, but being a college student I of course have to keep my education and eventual career in mind, so money has to be put aside for future expenses.
