Personal History

I am a 45 year old veteran motocrosser.  Began racing at six, won my first NMA national at eight.  I have 70 amateur titles during NMA, and AMA events.  Three second place finishes at Amateur National Championships at Ponca.  I have eight state titles.  Turned pro at 16 and rode the 125/500 nationals with support from Fox.  My passion for racing and winning hasn't changed since then.  In 2009 I competed in 18 events from Georgia to Texas and lost only three motos.  I continue to workout and train 3-4 days per week.  I currently race the +40 A/Expert class on an 08 KX 450F.  I'm already getting ready for a big 2010 season, culminating with a podium with friend and former racing pal, Doug Dubach and Billy Liles.  My occupation is structural ironworker, this definitely helps keep me in top shape.  Non drinker, and try to pass along all the positives about the sport to the youngsters coming up.  It's truly nice to give back to a sport that was and still is good to me!!  I love this sport, and sharing it with kids.  I have always represented my sponsors with the utmost professionalsim and have never been too busy for ANYONE with questions.

Riding Goals

Goals for the 2010 MX/SX season include getting in more races on a regional and national level.  I will kick off 2010 at the Florida Winter AM Series; still the best series to get in shape for things to come.  I will race select events to include:

Vortex VET National Championship

Carolina Ultra Series

Select Monster Energy SX/Arena Cross events

Best In Georgia Series

Four Stroke national Championships

SEVMX 450 A class

Area and Regional Qualifiers for Loretta's

My ultimate goal is consistent top three finishes at all events, especially Loretta's!!

Amateur National Championships at Loretta's

VET World Championships

I also want to pick up some good sponsors to represent.  I know from the past that sponsorship doesn't end on Sunday after the last moto.  I look forward to working closely with my sponsors, and representing them in a professional and courteous manner on and off the track every day of the week.

Competitive Highlights

NMA qualifier, 1978, myself, Billy Liles, and Scott Burnworth battled in knee deep mud at Rio Bravo for the last two spots to get to Ponca City.  It was a great race, we all raced each other very hard, and Scott and I transferred to Ponca.  At Ponca, the race turned out to be between myself, Burnworth, and Paul Emerson.  Paul won, I was second, and Scott was third.  It was close,,,,,what a great race!!

May 2009, Best of Texas Spring Series; I got caught up in a tangle in the first corner. By the time I got going, I was running in 27th.  I always seem to go harder and faster when behind, at the end of six laps at the checkered flag, I was third.

My very first NMA minicycle event in Cairo GA.  Never been on the track, didn't know any of the guys I was racing.  Won both motos, couldn't believe it,,,,,what a rush.

Billy Liles and I grew up racing together, and we have had some of the wildest, bar banging, fender rubbing races I've ever been involved in.  Billy and I were and still are great friends off the track, but on race day you could flip a coin on who would be that survived the beating.

Finishing second three times at Ponca in the 125 expert class.
