Personal History
My name is Anthony Torres and I live in San Jose, Ca. I Started riding at age 4. My first bike was a Yamaha PW50 then that bike got stollen. My second bike was a 1986 Honda CR80 then sold that bike and got a 2000 Yamaha YZ80. Still have that bike then bought a 2001 Honda CR250, didnt want to go the 125 route. I sold the Honda 250 and just recently bought a 2004 Yamaha YZF250 for motocross and got a 1995 Yamaha YZ250 which i'm working on right now for Dirt Track. My dad was the person who got me into riding and I fell in love with it. I started racing about 4-5 years ago and just got my dad into it also. I first started racing TT races and then got into motocross racing, but my friend introduced me to flat track and I was hooked. My very first flat track race was in Chowchilla, CA at the Chowchilla Barnburner and I took third, thats when it hit me when I knew I could do great in this sport. I came back the following year with a new bike and kicked butt. I started winning and winning and found myself with the number one plate at the end of the season. The following season was bad due to slipped disk on lower back and family deaths but for this up coming season I plan to join AMA District 36 and progress more and more.
Riding Goals
My goals for 2009 are to just improve and make myself a better rider. At the moment I just want to practice at my friends private track and maybe do a couple 1/4 mile flat track races. The biek I will be racing will be totally diled in and ready to race. I cannot wait for the 2009 season.
Competitive Highlights
My most memorable highlight was last year at Chowchilla, my friend were racing against each other and we have known each other for about 15 years so any time together on the track is fun but I remember that we were going around turn 1 and he was ahead. My startegy was to dive inside and take his line but not to hurt him. He left the door wide open so I took it and when I passed him I yelled out," GOTCHA". We got off the track when the race was over and he congradulated me on the race. I have always looked up to him because his family has been filled with proffessional flat track racers.
