Personal History

My Name is Andrew McDowell. My dad got me into riding at age 6 and fell in love with it since i saw my bright red xr70 on my 6th birthday. Ever since i hopped on a bike it felt natural to me. From a young age i never liked racing. I would love to hit jumps and catch air though. My dad didn't know what he got himself into. I was always flying through the air trying to find away to catch the most air of the jumps on the track or anywhere we went to ride. As i grew older my dads back started hurting and wasn't able to take me out riding that often. From  the xr70 i went to a xr80 and stayed with that bike for a year or two. As i grew older i grew out of the bike and never got another one but would always bug my dad about it. Now about 5 years later I Turned 16 and told my dad I'm going to get a bike now i can drive myself to go riding. I saved my money and bought a 2002 cr250 from this rich guy who only rode it on the trails very lightly. I drove out bought the bike and immediatly had the feeling back i have been missing for years. When i pulled up to my house my boys from school where there waiting for me to check out my new bike. The second i dropped the bike at my house i started it again and ripped up and down the street busting hudge wheelies at 8:00 at night , kinda pissed the neighbors of a little. The next day i started ripping the bike apart and customizing it to they way i wanted cut seat grab slots, shaving the seat etc. Over the next few months i rode every weekend and started getting really good. Me and my buddies meet a guy with some freestyle ramps and got invited to come check em out. As we pulled up i was like damnnnn theese  some huge jumps and couldn't wait to get geared up.  The ramp was 12ft tall and set at  a 40ft gap. After a few side by sides with the kid who owned the ramp i hit a freestyle ramp for my first time. By the end of the day i was doing no handers, super mans and super cans. Everyone there was shocked at my talent for only been riding for  about 6 months. From that day forward i have been riding twice a weekend practicing as much as i can pushing my limits and my friends who have been riding there whole life to keep up with me now! I love to ride and will never give up. I always look for a challenge. I have now been riding full time for almost a year and have progressed more than i would have thought coming from a little xr80 to a cr250 That i have put all my time and effort into even doing all motor work myself.

Riding Goals

My riding goals are by the the middle of the summer 2013 to enter into a amateur Fmx competition in so-cal. Another goal is if givin the opportunity to back flip into a foam pit and then to dirt. One day i will become professional and i am putting my full focus on making my dream become true.
