Personal History
Hey people.
My name is André Imerslund. I am a 15 year old boy from Norway, who started riding Motocross in February 2008, after a break of many years from motocross.
My dad has ridden for 18 years, (he's 36 now), so I rode a bike for the first time when I was 2 years old. Got a white Yamaha PW50, and rode Motocross before I could even use my bicycle! Rode the PW50 the best I could until I had a bad crash on it, due to the bike being way too small for me. Got a KTM SX65, and I had to learn shifting and clutching, and that is basically how my career ended.
I got mad because I couldn't do it, my dad got angry because I was so negative, which made me even more angry. I don't really know why I quit, but I believe it was some sort of protest against my dad, which to be honest, might have been the most terrible choice I have ever made, and ever will make.
Played soccer for a few years, until I lost the interest in that, and then it was all computer. Could sit way too many hours on a PC every day. The only good thing I got out of that, is my English. I've learnt almost all of my English on the PC, talking orally to British people trough a computer program every day.
Then I started watching some Freestyle Motocross videos, and I got hooked up on Twitch and the Metal Mulisha (even though I had always liked them as a group,) and I decided. Motocross is what I want to do. Which seems to have been the best choice in my life!
We got an excellent deal on a 2004 Honda CR125, which was bought brand new in 2005, rode for 5 hours, then stood the same place in the sellers garage for a year. We bought it for 20 000 NOK including almost brand new gear, and it was all very decent brands. If you saw my smile that day, you would be sure to know, that kid was the happiest kid you had ever seen!
Rode it for 8 months, and then bought a 2008 Suzuki RM-Z250, which has been excellent since the day we went to pick it up at Cross Centeret Snellingen!
After that I've just been working to get faster lap times, better control on the bike, better organization of things like washing, cleaning up after working on the bike and such, as well as the reason we all ride motocross. Having fun!
Now the winter time has set in, and here in ice cold Norway, the tracks are going to be very hard! The tires are going to grip really great though. Will be like riding on a highway.
Looking forward to the next season, and hoping for good weather and excellent tracks.
UPDATE 17th of July 2009:
I've now turned 16, and I've been riding some races in Norway, like MX ShakeDown, Top 20 of Norway and a local race not too far from my home. I will attend the Goliat Race in Sweden. Been practicing a lot and working hard, and my turns are getting really good! I've gotten more comfortable on the bike and make bigger jumps now. I am now able to carry my momentum pretty good which is always fun. And I am just looking forward to more of the season.
Take care,
André.
Riding Goals
My only goals are to have fun, get faster and enjoy every second on the dirt bike. Thinking positive, looking ahead.
