Personal History
Hello, my name is Anderson Nicka. I am a 22-year-old who was born and raised in Austin, Pennsylvania, and it would be my dream to become a sponsored rider.
I am the oldest out of 5 siblings. My family and I are very adventurous and outgoing people who love being outdoors and staying active. During my high school career, I was extremely involved in athletics including basketball and football. I was selected to be on the Allstar team for both sports and always gave 100% towards everything I attempted.
My love for riding began when I was just 5 years old and has since manifested itself into a passion for racing. Although racing hasn’t always been easy for me to do due to financial issues and lack of family background, I have quickly rose to the top of each class I have competed in. With much help from my family and friends, my dream of racing hare scrambles has quickly become a reality and I could not be more thankful.
Riding Goals
One of the goals I have been successful at maintaining throughout my racing career has been to give my all, especially during the challenges that come with competing. I have worked extremely hard and accomplished many personal achievements during the 2 years that I have been fortunate enough to race. For instance, during the first year of racing I was promoted from C class to open B. This motivated me to push harder toward my dream and to continue to push myself to become a better rider.
Another goal of mine as a rider has been to learn from my mistakes and build off of my weaknesses. One of the things I love about racing is the constant opportunity to better myself. Instead of getting frustrated over a loss, a broken part, or getting tired out during a race, I use these things to teach myself how to be a better rider. Over the past couple years, I have taught myself how to repair the damage done to my bike, prepare my body to ride to the best of my ability and compete in an effective way while racing.
Lastly, my ultimate goal is to continue to fall in love with racing. This has been my dream ever since I watched my first hare scramble and I am so thankful to be able to take part in something that I have worked so hard for.
Competitive Highlights
Throughout my time as a hare scramble racer I have been fortunate enough to achieve things that I never thought possible. For example, the very first race I ever competed in, I was able to take home a 1st place plaque in my class and 8th place out of 300 C riders overall.
After this, I got my first holeshot during the NYOA round 1 dream riders’ event in 2019. Since then, I have been able to successfully get the holeshot in 6 other races and maintain a strong lead in the front of each class I have raced in.
My first Tomahawk GNCC B class win also took place in 2019. I felt extremely fortunate to win in a national series as a new racer and I still consider this to be one of my best personal highlights.
The last achievement I’d like to mention took place at the NYOA Big Buck Round 2 2020. While I was racing, I ended up washing out on some tree roots that were on the track and broke the shifter off of my bike. Despite this setback, I was still able to get 1st place in my class and 43rd out of 355 total riders. Although I have been fortunate enough to achieve these feats, I continue to push harder and better myself as a racer.
