Personal History

I started racing in the USRA Desert events in Utah back in 2004.  Through the years as I have gotten better I have done more and more races each year.  This year there are 14 events, and I hope to compete in about 10 of them.  Next year I plan to do all 14.  My goals this year is to place top 3 in my class overall.  And to take the overall next year in Over 35 Amatuer.  And then move up to the expert class for the 2014 season.

I have taken many 1st place's as I have moved up through the classes, and innumerous 2nds and 3rds.

I have also gotten about 5 friends into dirtbiking and desert racing.  And some of them now are just as serious as I am about it.  So we have a great group of guys that ride, and it seems to grow every year as desert racing grows, and as the environment of my 30+ age group wanting to compete as they get older.  Triathalons and marathons have really grown recently, but as soon as I get my friends in a desert race, they all hands down say it tougher than the other type of racing.  And so I have gotten a big following to dirt biking recently.

My end all goals are to be ever increasing my skill on a bike, and I hope to race with my friends till im 70!

Riding Goals

Well i summed most of it up in the last info.  But my goal for next year is to take the overall in over 35 Amature in the USRA desert series.  And as long as I can keep my DNF's to a minimum I should have no problem doing that.  I had 3 BRUTAL DNFs this year, where I was leading my class, because of flats.  So I bought a pair of mousse tubes and will never race without them ever again.

Competitive Highlights

Well I have a wall of 1st place trophies in my house from racing in the Novice division from 2004-2010.  I have not taken racing too seriously until last year, and so I hadnt thought too much about moving up to more competitive classes.  Also after my business has done well and I can afford to ride more and have nicer bikes I decided to move up a class.  And after my first race last year moving up to Amature and getting a second place finish in my class and 19 overall out of 86 riders in my first race, I realized that I had been holding my self back.  I feel like i have been steadily progressing at a good pace and am excited to take on greater competition.

As far as this year has gone, after a string of a lot of bad luck with with bike problems and flat tire DNF's near the end of races this year, I am happy with my solid progression of being in the top 10 overall at all half way points  So I am very optomistic about finishing strong the second half of this year, and even more excited about killing it next year!
