Personal History
I'll be honest, I'm not your normal recruit. I started motocross late in life as my family assumed I would kill myself if given a chance on a dirt bike. I recently turned 27 years old and now own three dirt bikes (take that mom and dad). I started trail riding back in August and got into motocross in February. I have been addicted ever since. When I am not at the track, I am thinking about motocross or watching videos about motocross. I have a full time job as a manufacturing engineer building space vehicles but I sneak away as much as I can to fit in practice days. On average, I go to the track three days a week to practice and have progressed fast enough to beat women who have raced up to ten years. I also work out at least three times a week in addition to riding.
I just started my first race series this June at Riverfront MX park in Marysville, CA where I race in the Women's beginner class and I recently joined the Sierra Over the Hill Gang to start racing in their series as well. I just completed my second eval race and am racing in the Women's A class.
I may not have the newest or the nicest bike but I do a lot of the work on them myself and it gets me going fast enough to be very competitive.
I feel like I have made strides in just a few months so I am excited to see where I will be in the near future.
Riding Goals
I would like to ride in the Women's Novice group next year for local events and I would like to be moved up to Men's beginner in the Over the Hill Gang. My plan is to race a Summer series and most, if not all, of the Over the Hill Gang races. I am very committed and competitive so I would like to continue improving so that in two years I can race in the area qualifiers for the amateur nationals. Eventually I would like to make it to Loretta Lynn's to compete.
Competitive Highlights
In my first race with Over the Hill Gang Sierra Chapter I was placed in the Women's B group to determine what class I would fit into. I lapped all of the riders in that group so I was automatically moved up to the Women's A group. In my first moto with the Women's A group, I finished 5th where the top 6 riders were within seconds from each other so it was a very intense race. I have now only had one other race with the Women's A group and my evaluator already thinks I will outgrow the group soon and be moved up to Men's beginner class racing 450's on my 150cc bike.
Another highlight of mine is being 2nd in points for the Riverfront Race series. This is my first race series ever and the first race of the series was my first race ever so I feel like I have done extremely well for my lack of experience racing.
