Personal History

Hi my name is Abbie Chambers I am an 8 year old girl and I LOVE motocross.

Beginning and Season 1 - I started riding when I was 5 years old on a minimoto and soon progressed onto a KTM pro junior. I started competing when I was 6 years old and ended the season on a KTM pro junior.  I finished my first season off with 5 trophies coming 7th in the club championship and 8th in the Girls Nationals.  I was set up to start the next season on a newer KTM pro junior but I had a RM65 for my birthday and christmas only for practising gears as I had shown great interest in gears, as my dad rides and also after going to our local Dirt Bike Show, and after riding it for the first time made the decision to do next season on my RM.  My parents supported my decision as long as I understood that it would be like taking a step backwards.

Season 2 - I finished the season with 5 trophies coming 11th in the club championships despite fracturing my foot in a mx accident right at the end of the season and therefore missing meeting and I came 6th in the Girls Nationals.

I got the all clear to start riding again after christmas this year and couldn't wait to get out there.  I was winning the points after the second moto at a pre-season warm up but in the third I was about to take the lead when the leader got out of shape in front of me so I swerved to miss them leaving me no where to go and my front fork dug in the bank sending me over the handle bars in to the bank and breaking my arm which meant I had to have two pins put into my arm.  I am lucky enough to of been able to have some laser treatment on my arm and 4 months down the line I have been given the all clear to start riding. YEAH!

To get my fitness back up I have been going practising with my brother who does BMX racing, helping to bring him on racing against his big sister, and swimming.  I also take part in an after school footall club which helps with my fitness.

I took part in a charity event last yaer 'Lap of Hope' raising money for mx spinal injuries where I got to meet some big names in racing who really inspire me.

I have had great support from my family, friends, schools and clubs.  Which has also meant I have appeared in Dirt Bike Rider magazine with one of my clubs, TMX promoting the Girls Nationals and also local papers.

You won't find any girlie posters on my bedroom walls just mx posters and my signed shirt from 'The Lap of Hope' event ;-)

Riding Goals

My main goal is to win the Girls Nationals (better my result).

An other goal is to get back to where i was at the end of last year before my injuries, which meant i have been off my bike for 7ish months, or even better my results.

To finish off my goals I want to make it to the British Supercross this year after missing it the beginning of this season through injury.  An experience I am really looking forward to.

Competitive Highlights

My highlights so far have been taking part in the Girls Nationals it is such a different experience riding against all girls as I ride against boys with my clubs and bettering my results in the second year.  I have also met Natalie Kane a GP rider who I want to ride like.
