Rider Updates

After taking a pretty hard crash in saturdays practice, a very well rode 2nd moto on Sunday results in a 2nd place finish and 2nd over-all. Notibles beat. Kaleb Carmen and Aaron St Sauver.

Sundays race was very mixed. In the 50 class on the youth track, Aaron rode spectacular. He got 2nd the first race. Then the second race, he spun the bike out coming out of a corner, dropping back to 6th. He quickly got up and was able to get back to 3rd, giving him a second over-all on the day. That was really exciting.
Then the 65, he got to race against kyra again. They took off, and Aaron was leading her, and about 4th in his class. On the first lap, he got high sided in a deep rut and went down. Luckily it wasn't too far from me, and I was able to get over to him and help him start the bike. Even though I'm really suppose to let him do it, I have a hard time sitting there watching him struggle with that big bike. So, he was able to get going again, and passed 4 riders back that went by when he was down.

Headed to Kellogg for the weekend Friday morning, and just got the parts to rebuild the top end on the 65. The 50 will stay home, while a borrowed bike is in line to be used for the 7-8 pre-mix class. Hopefully I'll have the 65 running tonite and have no problems with it for the weekend.
We plan on getting some practice in Friday night, then spending all day Saturday at the Pro Nationals at Spring Creek. We will be back to the camp ground Sat night and race Sunday, hopefully in 2 classes, but maybe just the 7-8 50cc pre-mix class.

We spent 5 days at Staples over the long Holiday weekend. On Wednesday Aaron spent some time with spencer Kadlec going over some of the more difficult portions of the Staples track. This was some great training done by Spencer. He really has a way talking to kids so they can understand him.
We then went to Brainard for the day on Thursday, and spent time riding go-carts and a little shopping.
Friday was spent practicing all day at the track, then a little team racing that evening. Aaron and I did the father son race on the 65, and wouldn't you know, I got the hole shot on all those other 85's. The race was a ton of fun even with a 7th place finish.
Saturdays race started out with quite a bit of drama, as Aarons friend Josh went down a few times giving Aaron a 2nd place finish. Josh was leading the 50 class when he went down and had a hard time getting going again. The second race Josh ran a smarter race, and aaron got 3rd. On the 65, he did really well caturing a 5th place.
Sundays race had the drama also. Aaron went out to practice before the race and went down 5 times on both bikes. It was very obvious Aaron was very tired and was having a hard time. So, with the help of a little Monster to wake him up, he got 3rd place in both the 50 class moto's, and 5th in both the 65 class moto's. On the second 50class race, Aaron got the hole shot on everyone. That was really exciting.

Perfect weather and great track conditions were only the beginning of a great weekend. Brody's benefit dinner and auction was a lot of fun, and the racing was absolutely great.
In the 7-8 Pre-mix class, Aaron got 4th out of 8 in both moto's. Very pleased with that. Aaron rode hard yet safe.
This was also Aarons first District race on the 65. After 2 days of practice on the big track, Aaron felt confident he could race on Sunday. First moto he got 9th out of 13, and the second moto, he passed 5 riders getting 7th out of 13, capturing the second trophy of the day. First race on the 65 and he trophies. That was so exciting.

First race at Little Falls proves to be a challenge, but with hard work, and remembering to just have fun, Aaron takes a second place.
Saturdays practice went really well. The deep sand is tough to learn, let alone hard on the bikes. The KTM ran really well on 3 full practice sessions. Also, had a great day practicing the 65 Polini. Aaron is really getting better with the clutch, knowing what gear he's in, feathering the clutch in the deep sandy corners, and keeping the bike upright.
Sundays race, Engstrom couldn't get the bike to keep running, he never
made it to the line. Another kid that was fast torched his brake drum,
1st moto, and second moto, the loctite never set up and lost it again with
one lap to go.
Second moto was in the rain. Aaron had great hole shot on
everyone, Frias quit in the first turn, and Aaron had
a huge lead before he got it going. . But Frias caught Aaron with one lap to go. So, Aaron got a
2nd...it was raining pretty hard the last moto, so Aaron seems to do really well in the rain. So, a fun exciting
day.

With all the top riders out of State this weekend, this was Aarons opurtunity to really do good. First moto went really well. Started out 4th, passed 2 riders, but just could not make short enough work out of them the chase the leader down. Toni Jehnze ran a great race leading the whole race, but Aaron was chasing her down. Another lap or two he would have caught her.
2nd moto, started out 4th again, and got passed by one in all the traffic. Toni again got the lead fast, and Aaron had to deal with traffic once again. He just could not make short work of them and took too long to get by them. By the time Aaron got to 3rd, Pierce Bedell and toni were out too far. Pierce passed Toni and won the second moto, with Toni getting 2nd and Aaron 3rd. Again Aaron was catching the leaders, but just not enough time to hunt them down.
So, Aarons friend Toni took 1st overall, Pierce got 2nd and Aaron got 3rd over all. A very fun day of racing.

Raced the 65 for the first time today. Aaron got 3rd and 3rd out of 4 racers. Very well done. Never went down all day.
Also, got a 2nd and a 2nd in the 7-8 pre-mix class. The kids that beat him in the 50 class, is the kid that Aaron beat both races in the 65 class. the Father of that kid and I were absolute nervous wrecks watching them battle it out all 4 races.
ERX is a really fun place to race. We will have to try and go back again sometime soon.

Aarons last day of school today. Now we can spend a little more time practicing. Got down to Elko pretty early. We got to help watch over the youth track, and help with watering. Spent some quality time on working on sharp turns, breaking points, and starts. Sunday should be a really fun day of racing.
Also went out on the big track twice on the 65. Went down only once. Other than that, really had a lot of fun riding the new bike. Aaron even passed someone on an 85. He thought that was pretty cool. But then they passed him back, and when they did, he got hit in the hand by a rock.
Thinking about racing Saturday at ERX in Elk River, but so many things going on, not sure we can make it.
Elko this Sunday...we always run pretty good at Elko.
