Personal History
My name is Aaron Boatman. I started riding my older sisters pw50 when I was 4 yrs old. As soon as I was able to ride my bicycle with no training wheels, my dad asked if I wanted to try the dirt bike. I said "of course". So, my Dad tied a rope to the bike and ran around behind for a few laps, and before we knew it, I was hitting little jumps on my own.
My very first race was at the Anoka County Fair, July 24th, 2007. I didn't do real well on the opening heat race, but made it to the final race in the LCQ. So, that night I raced 3 races. That was pretty exciting. I got 18th out of 24 entries.
The next spring my Dad sold the pw50, and got me a 2004 KTM Mini Adventure. We bought the bike from the Boaz who have become great friends of ours. We go camping and racing with them most weekends.
My first AMA Dist 23 race was May 11th 2008 at Cambridge in the 50cc oil Injection class. The rest of that year I raced 19 total races getting a 4th place in the class in the State. That was pretty cool. My first win came in July at the Mankato race.
At the end of the season, we then got a 2006 KTM Pro Sr. This was a much faster bike and took a lot of riding to learn. We spent all winter riding indoors to learn the bike and get better on it.
Riding Goals
2009 racing season is a lot different than the first season we raced. The compitition is much harder, and most are all older and have been racing several years longer than I have. My goals are to become a much better rider, stay in the top 10 in my class in AMA Dist 23, and work really hard at getting in the top 5 by the end of the year. I hope to win a few races in the 7-8 Pre-mix class.
