Personal History
My name is Brandon Snowden, I am 14 yrs old and have been riding competitively for just over a year. I live in Cameron, NC near the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg, NC area. I come from a military family and have lived all over the US (my dad recently retired from the Army so we are staying in the area for the foreseeable future). Most people think its tough moving around so much, but I feel it has given me the chance to meet so many different people and cultures. Off-road sports is the thing we do in my family. My grandfather raced MX in the 70s/80s, my dad is into SxSs and ATVs, Uncle is a former enduro rider and once we moved here to North Carolina, my friends got me into it and it has been alot of fun! I have tried baseball, football, soccer, but nothing compares to MX, I love it. Beyond racing, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, family game nights where we (dad, mom, brother and sister) all play Mario Party, it gets pretty intense, and trout fishing in the North Carolina mountains.
Riding Goals
I just got a Kawasaki KX250 so my immediate goal is to become comfortable and competitive on it and in the 250 class (first race is January 29th @Windy Hill MX in Ellerbe, NC). This summer, I plan on spending a week at South Of the Border MotoCross training facility while school is out. By years end, I want to at least be highly competitive in the 250 C class looking to move up no later than summer of next year. Long term, I want to compete in a Loretta Lynn qualifier and win. I also want to give back. I am always looking to help out with the 50/65cc riders. Whether that's working as a flagger during the pee-wee race or coaching anything I can do to help the next generation. Down the road, I would love to work as a trainer at SOBMX or maybe even open my own training facility.
Update Oct 2023: I've gone from coming in last on my Honda 150 to 5th overall on my Honda 250. Thanks to my dedicated and hard working trainer, Graysen F, I've been able to stay locked in and on the tails (or back tires) of some of the fastest racers in the NC area.
Competitive Highlights
My first race, I wasn't even riding a mx bike, I was riding a CRF125F at Dreamville MX in Raeford, NC. I was actually doing well, then I came to a huge step-up called "the Dreamer" hit it full send, didnt have enough speed to clear it, cased it on the backside, and me and the bike did tandum cartwheels down the track (so I am told anyway). This is a highlight for me because it showed my parents that I was dedicated. A few weeks later, they got me my CRF150RB and I never looked back.
After crashing 2 major races in a row, some physical therapy and hard work, I came back stronger than ever. I felt like a concussion and breaking my collar bone was my "initiation" into being a true MX racer and I could do anything.
