Rider Updates

My first race in beginner class was May 2006. But I love to ride and I went to Rolling Hills with the hopes of qualifying for the regionals on my Honda CRF150R. The competition was really tough and I didn't do as well as I hoped. At 14, I have grown to 6 ft tall and the 150 didn't feel like a good fit anymore. I had just gotten a KTM 450SXF 2 weeks before this race. I had not even gotten used to the feel of it but I talked Mom into letting me ride it too. By the end of the first day, I was ready to go home but Mom said I came to ride and that's what I was going to do. She signed me up to qualify on the 450 and I knew I couldn't compete with the seasoned riders. Well, it started raining Saturday evening, continued all night and still more rain on Sunday morning. I never saw so much mud. People were not even staying to try to qualify. I had nothing to lose. By the time my race came around, half the track was closed - 4-wheelers were getting stuck in the mud. Speed was not an issue - I just had to stay up. If you went down, it was all over. By the time I was at the finish line, 3 guys were laying on the hill with their bikes. I stopped at the bottom of the hill and yelled for them to move, but they couldn't. I knew I had to just go for it. I made it to the top and over the finish line -- I came in 7th!!!!! Mom said she's going to start calling me mud man. I'm still on cloud 9! I won't ever forget this race!
